The A-seating nipple is a top no-go, reduced-bore, polished-bore nipple. This nipple is often used in Pump and Rod applications, but also when no locking device is required, such as in setting a hydraulic packer with a standing valve. When equalizing standing valves are run, the valve shoulders against the reduced ID of the packing bore and seals in the polished section.
